The 90 Second Rule

Let me share a skill thats far less difficult than JUGGLING 🤹🏼‍♀️ and will help you tackle that inner dialogue that has the ability to cycle over & over again. 💭 The 90 Second Rule When a person has a reaction to something, an event, a circumstance and so on, there’s a 90 second chemical process that happens in the body; after that, any remaining emotional response is just the person choosing to stay in that emotional loop. Something happens in the external world and chemicals are flushed through your body which puts it on full alert. For those chemicals to totally flush out of the body it takes less than 90 seconds. This means that for 90 seconds you can watch the process happening, you can feel it happening, and then you can watch it go away After that, if you continue to feel fear, anger, upset and so on, you need to look at the thoughts that you’re thinking that are re-stimulating the circuitry that is resulting in you having this physiological response over and over again. Now of course it’s not intended that after 90 seconds everything will be rosey. This practice is just intended to help you see emotions for what they are: body sensations burdened by thoughts, the stories we keep telling ourselves. When we can view emotions from this perspective, rather than identifying with emotions as evidence that there is something wrong..., we can learn to acknowledge them and begin to find a place of balance, harmony and positive reactions and choose to be gentle with ourselves until the storm becomes less overwhelming and eventually passes. How relieving is this to know what we can almost instantly knock ourselves back into alignment with a little practice…Ok so here’s the steps: 1️⃣DECIDE to play the game 2️⃣From the moment you feel suffering you have 90 seconds to FIND SOMETHING TO APPRECIATE 3️⃣Sit in appreciation, feel yourself as if you were there, Inhale. Exhale. And allow yourself to feel the tension in your body ease 4️⃣repeat as often as necessary, see this as a priority and DECIDE not to suffer and to live in a beautiful State Of Mind.
